Public Statement of the Resignation of KYC
Executive Director Amy Eldridge

Since its creation in 1994 Kaleidoscope Youth Center has been dedicated to the empowerment of young lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning and ally youth in Central Ohio. From our first meeting in 1994 at the Short Stop Teen Drop-in Center to our current Town Street location, KYC has flourished thanks to excellence in leadership and teamwork.
It is therefore with mixed emotions that KYC announces the departure of our Executive Director, Amy Eldridge. Since joining KYC in 2011, Amy’s unfailing dedication to the KYC mission has guided our growth and directed our impact in the LGBTQ+ community of Central Ohio.
Amy’s leadership has established and sustained collaborations with other prominent organizations and institutions in Columbus. Under Amy’s guidance the quality and diversity of structured programming available to youth through KYC has grown significantly: since 2011 KYC’s revenue has increased 250%, while youth participation has increased 450%. KYC’s Ohio GSA Network has grown from 7 registered high school groups in 2011 to 94 registered groups in 2017. Amy’s ambitious vision has guided KYC’s growth into a beautiful Center that represents the community’s care and support for LGBTQ+ youth.
The KYC Board of Directors thanks Amy for her years of capable leadership as the Executive Director, and wishes her well in her future endeavors.
We now begin the search for a new Executive Director, and we are excited for the next individual to bring their passion and skills to KYC’s mission of creating safe and empowering spaces for LGBTQ+ youth! In the interim, Board of Director’s member Kelly Francone will be an “Acting Administrator” until such time that the role has been filled.
Further inquiries or day-to-day programmatic and operational questions can still be directed to KYC at 614-294-5437 or emailed to [email protected].
