KYC provides multiple volunteer opportunities throughout the year for community members who are at least 23 years of age or older -- from special event assistance, to "Days of Service", to working directly in the Center with youth participants. See below for links to sign up for various volunteer opportunities offered.
Please note: All volunteers, with the exception of "Days of Service" volunteers, must go through an interview process and attend a training session prior to volunteering (Next Volunteer Training: Saturday, Nov. 10). Additionally, volunteers, particularly "Program Assistance" volunteers, will need to undergo a BCI and/or FBI Background Check. For background check scholarship assistance, click here (coming soon).
KYC volunteers who assist with programming have the option to work directly with youth during program hours or may attend the Center prior to drop-in hours at 3:30pm to complete tasks related to administration or programs.
If you are interested in Programming Support, please complete the form below.
Please note that in order to work directly with youth you must successfully complete a background check(s), be interviewed by a program staff member, attend a 3 hour training session (held quarterly), visit the Center for observation hours, and commit to a 2 hour volunteer shift for a minimum of 6 months.
KYC hosts several events at the Center, and at other venues throughout the community, including: Other Prom, Bar-B-Queer (our back-to-school celebration), open houses, and our annual fall fundraiser. Volunteers who attend these events will assist with event logistics in order to ensure its success. If you are interested in participating in a KYC affiliated special event, click the button below:
Groups from various local organizations generously take time out of their schedules to attend Days of Service at the Center. Each session begins with a tour of the facility and background information about Kaleidoscope. Some examples of potential tasks include cleaning, organizing, facility and landscape maintenance, preparing meals, and office work.
