Me Now

Every new day
Brings a brand new beginning
And I am new
All the newness sends me spinning
Upon this floor of glass
Carefully placing each step
I still fall as they watch me
Laughing with me as mom slept
Far from the gazes
The words and the stares
I no longer have to be someone I'm not
For someone who isn't even there
I’ve broken loose
Rid myself of those chains
I’m me now.
