Youth

Research Project

Kaleidoscope Youth Center is for youth ages 12 up to 21, who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT), are questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity, identify as queer, or are straight allies. Essentially, Kaleidoscope Youth Center IS you. Youth have the most important voice in all that we do. Center programs and services are designed to assist young people in developing a true sense of self; and becoming comfortable with the things that make you unique, and discovering the many things that you have in common with others. Our safe, supportive, confidential environment allows you to build your understanding of the LGBT community, to explore your feelings and experiences, and to meet other young people. At Kaleidoscope you will find that you are not alone—in fact, you are one of the family! Figuring out who you are and what direction you want to go in life is hard. At Kaleidoscope, we are dedicated to working with you to figure out what programs you want as a Center youth, and we count on you to tell us what you need. We understand that you may have questions and venturing out is not the easiest thing to do. We have lots of online resources and an email link where you can ask us anything that might help with this. Whether you are unsure of your sexual orientation or gender identity or are out, proud and ready to create change, we are happy that you are here. Welcome: we’re glad you found us!

RESEARCH PROJECT IN PROGRESS!!!!  July 27,2010

The Ohio State University in partnership with Kaleidoscope Youth Center is in search of young lesbian, gay, & bisexual youth, ages 14-18 for a one-on-one interview to talk about their decisions to disclose or not disclose their sexual orientation to their family.  The research group is especially interested in talking with youth who have not disclosed to any or all of their family members.  You will also be asked questions about substance use.  All of which will remain confindential.
