Kaleidoscope Youth Center (KYC) is the largest organization in Ohio solely dedicated to serving and supporting LGBTQIA+ youth and their allies.
Founded in 1994, KYC is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit located in the Discovery District of Columbus, OH. Our vision is for youth across the spectrums of sexual orientation and gender identity to live healthy, whole lives with acceptance and freedom from oppression.
We work in partnership with young people to create and implement positive youth development activities and services that enhance the lives of LGBTQIA+ youth and allies in five key areas:
Social and behavioral health
Holistic health and wellness
Identity affirmation and community building
Leadership development, empowerment, and advocacy
The Center, located at 603 E. Town St., provides a safe and affirming space to nearly 500 youth each year. The space includes the Tom W. Davis family room, the Kiwanis Club of Columbus Multipurpose Room, the Nina West & Virginia West Performance Space, the David Bohnett Cyber Center, a gaming room, a creative arts gallery, the KYC Cafe, a full kitchen, 4 gender neutral bathrooms, and a resource room with clothing and hygiene items.
As a well-respected community-based organization, KYC provides direct services and referrals to youth, training and education to youth service providers, and important information relating to sexual orientation and gender identity issues to the community at large.
From peer-to-peer programs to HIV prevention and education, to after-school activities and peer counseling services, KYC assists LGBTQIA+ youth in the transition to healthy, productive adults and provides them with the tools to thrive and become leaders in the greater community.
